SCHOLARSHIP
This fund was established to provide one or more non-renewable scholarships to a current or recent student member of Sphinx, and plan to attend Ohio State as a graduate or graduate-professional student. Special consideration is given to students who have demonstrated leadership at the University and in Sphinx. Awards have been given beginning in 2021.
The Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship Fund
- The 2025 Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship recipient was Rheanna Velasquez, who was linked in 2023 as a member of the 117th class. She graduated with a degree in Neuroscience and is starting her second year in the College of Medicine. Hailing from Wooster, Ohio, Rheanna was very active with BuckeyeThon as an undergraduate. She was on Homecoming Court in 2024 and was one of the two “Homecoming Royalty" (formerly known as King and Queen).
- The recipient of the 2024 Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship was Amarachi (Ami) Kanu. They were linked in 2023 as part of the 117th class. They graduated with a BS in Neuroscience and a minor in Spanish. Ami planned to start an MD program at The Ohio State University College of Medicine the following fall. Ami hopes to become a physician to impact the community by reducing health disparities and improving the health of underserved communities. They want to help patients live happy, healthy, and meaningful lives.
- The 2023 recipient of the Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship is Anand Tushar Shah. Anand is a 2021 graduate of Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and a member of the 114th class of Sphinx. Post-graduation, Anand worked as a business analyst with McKinsey & Company with a focus on healthcare practice. While at Ohio State, he co-founded SmileChild, a nonprofit organization dedicated to decreasing the infant mortality rate in the state of Ohio through an incentive-based education platform. He also served as the undergraduate student trustee on The Ohio State University Board of Trustees and was Vice President of Membership for BuckeyeThon. Anand planned to enter The Ohio State University College of Medicine in August 2023 to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree.
- The recipient of the 2022 Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship was Kenneth Harvey. Kenneth is a 2022 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Kenneth’s student activities include: Director of Campus Outreach–Buckeyes First Student Organization; Senior Counselor to the Executives of Undergraduate Student Government (USG); Senator for the College of Engineering; Member of the Texnikoi Engineering Honorary; Resident Advisor-OSU Office of Residence Life. Kenneth began graduate school at OSU in August 2022 as he seeks his Master of City and Regional Planning degree. In his future career, Kenneth plans to use both his engineering and city planning background to work to undo inequities in our built environment. He plans to work to make communities better for people who reside in them by building streets safe for pedestrians where small business can flourish.
- The recipient of the 2021 Brad A. Myers Sphinx Scholarship was Abby Maxson-Stabile. Abby is a 2021 graduate of the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Abby’s student activities include member and treasurer of the Animal Science Community Alliance Leadership Team; chair of the Bucks Committee (College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Celebration of Students Banquet); and member of the OSU Powerlifting Club. Abby began graduate school at OSU in August, 2021 and plans to receive her Master of Public Health, College of Veterinary Medicine in May, 2023. She is drawn to career in veterinary public health and plans to work in either a university or government setting. She is determined to make an impact that serves the community in a meaningful way.
